I walk into my apartment,

Reaching for the light switch.

Hum of electricity.

Your gazes fall upon me

From the walls of every room,

Watching my every move

The way I want you to as I

Work my way to you.

I set my bag on the bed,

Under your constant scrutiny.

I sit.

Rumpled sheets.

My hand draws the string

And reach in the bag,

Past bowie knife and Beretta

And pulls out leather notebook.

I take a pen from the nightstand.

Red ink, like a slice

Across an exposed neck,

Crosses out another name,

Drawing me closer to you.
